"Pope
for everyone". This is how the people see Pope Francis. He touched the
hearts of the Filipinos, in the simplest way by his presence and heart melting
smile. His simplicity makes everyone feel that he belongs with them,
from the highest officials of the society to the lower ones. And in return,
Filipinos wholeheartedly welcomed him with songs, praises, dance performances
and shouts of love from the crowd and is well-appreciated by him, which is very
visible in his smile.
Everyone was patiently waiting for his appearance and endured the discomfort of their position and on the time Pope Francis passed in front of them, you could see different expressions of the people: some are crying, some are shouting his name with joy and even saying "I love you, Papa Francisco!" Some Filipinos, who were unable to see him personally, just focused on their television, watching the live stream and updates yet they felt very blessed just by seeing him on screen.
His holy mass in Tacloban makes people feel that Jesus and Mary are with them. Those people who lost their families, friends and loved ones are crying, for they can feel the truthfulness of the Pope's words, hugs, blessings and his words that increased the hopes of the people and their willingness to continue their lives and move forward.
Pope Francis' visit united the Filipinos. The rules for the orderliness of the Papal visit were followed, people were well-disciplined though there were still some who didn't follow the rules. The improvement in the appearance of Manila is very evident on those clean streets, newly painted walls, pasted posters of the pope and to those police officers who had scattered along the roads for the security of everyone. These officers together with those volunteers and organizers, who sacrificed a lot for the good flow of every event, have been very blessed for they were able to serve the Pope. They might have receivedrants and
bad feedbacks from the people, yet they still chose to serve everyone in the
best way they can.
